Yaroslav, the Art Educator
The collection Kmytiv Art Museum for Soviet Art in Zhytomyr, Ukraine focuses on Soviet art of the 50-90s in Ukraine. The museum is soon to be demolished since the country's national identity has changed dramatically and rapidly. However, there are those who still see the value of these former masterpieces.
Yaroslav, the museum's director, is not interested in the usual questions that the contemporary art world poses. instead, he is drawn into an endless search for beauty, which he can luckily find everywhere.
The criteria of art institutions and how they are conveyed is the focus of this work.
Emphasising how the mediation and education of art often trump art itself.
